About Rathduff School
Scoil Naisiúnta Rath Dubh has been a centre of learning for the people of Grenagh Parish and beyond since 1861. Our school has been situated on its current two acre site since 1970. Our most important resource, our staff of 15 teachers, 3 S.N.As and secretary are dedicated to the children’s education and general welfare.
The school is divided into two buildings. The original building (single story) from 1970 includes five classrooms, two Resource Teaching/ Learning Support rooms and a general purpose room (used mainly for P.E. and Speech / Drama). We have a portocabin which is used as a Science room. The new building (two storey)has four classrooms, a Resource Teaching room, a computer room/staffroom, two offices, a meeting room/sick room and two storerooms.
The main subjects taught in our school are Gaeilge, English, Maths, Visual Arts, Music, P.E., History, Geography, Religion, Social, Personal and Health Education, Science, Drama and I.T. Skills.
Déanaimid iarracht Gaeilge a chothú sa scoil agus é a úsáid mar gnáth meán cumarsáide.
We see learning as a lifelong process and we encourage curiosity, wonder and happiness in achievement. We are aware of the individuality of each child and we encourage that, including children with special educational needs.
